Generosity

 I have been noticing lately that my students' folders were tearing along the spine, even after I had taped them. Also, the pencil bag (makeup bag?) that I was using to carry pens, a big eraser, a pencil sharpener, and a pair of scissors was just a little bit too small. I also used to have a Scotch tape dispenser in there, but it no longer fit. I recently started getting teaching booklets from Hooked on Phonics, which are great for my six-year-olds! 

Anyway, I knew I needed to get some new things, but I can't afford to spend a lot of extra money right now. So I started a "GoFundMe" with a goal of $300. I met my goal in two days!! Many thanks to the generous donators!! 

As you can see, I was able to get new folders- plastic ones, not cardboard! I also purchased more construction paper, which I use a lot of, the Hooked on Phonics workbook and stories, a new pencil and supplies bag (my tape will fit now, along with new pencils, which wouldn't fit in the other bag. I also got a few more Walgreens gift cards, which I give to my students when they can read all of the words on their word list (it varies in length with student's age or ability). 

 I am so grateful for the generosity of the donators! I wish I could send them a picture of the things I purchased!

Busy days!

 Hello everyone! I know it's been a long time since I've posted, but I want to start again! I have, in addition to tutoring, taken on a job as a pet sitter! On Monday this week I got done with pet sitting for a week and a half, two separate clients, two different cats. I had to come home and make sure I had prepared the three different tutoring lessons I had to teach that day - an 8-year-old, a 6-year-old, and a 3-year-old. Quite different lessons! But I was ready, and the lessons were successful. I'll go into detail about how I plan my lessons on another post. I hope you enjoy your day!

Chipped teeth

 Hello again! I just wanted to let you all know that I've recently gotten two more kids that I'm tutoring, one twice a week, once in reading and writing and once in math. The other new boy is three years old and I'm teaching him how to identify the letters of the alphabet and write his name. I now have four kids. One of the boys was at the skate park on his scooter and fell on his face, chipping his front teeth! He still told his mom that he wants to go to the skate park lol. Thoughtfulness

 Well, I was surprised this week when I was given this little plastic Pokemon character. You see, it was mine. I have a bag of them that I use for playing learning board games like "Say and Spell" or Bingo. Apparently this one had been left behind, unnoticed by me. So when I came to tutor the boy again, his mom showed it to me and told me how serious her son was about making sure I got it back. He called it "Miss Tia's figure." It just really touched my heart that he would care so much about such a little thing.
