Book Tree

I was able to sub at an elementary school again this week! It's always confusing, at this school in particular, finding my way around the different hallways and locating classrooms! Just when I start getting the hang of it, the school day is over. Figures. Well, I'll most likely sub at that school again, so hopefully I'll remember some of what I learned this week.

But all of that is beside the point. Something that I saw at this elementary school really caught my attention. It's a book tree! Kind of like those little libraries that people put up, but with much more imagination! Something that should catch kids' attention and make them want to take a book home. I sure would enjoy looking at the choice of what there was to read. But I'm always looking for something new to read.

This past summer, I participated in the Adult Summer Reading program at the local library. I received a free book for signing up! I was able to choose one from a specific shelf. Also, the library bookstore was having a sale - fill a grocery bag with books for $7! Of course I did it. But have I read any of them yet? Of course not. I already have "books to read" on my list, or a new title will pop up that sounds interesting.

I hope that kids in elementary school will find books that catch their attention and touch their imagination. I hope they get inspired! I hope they develop a love for reading that will last. Hopefully this book tree will help. I love it!
