Escape Room!

Okay, so these aren't actually the kids I tutor, they are the kids I often teach in Kids' Church. I found an Easter themed escape room online and printed out the puzzles and the clue sheets. The kids had to unscramble letters for one, and use a code breaker for another, and so on. There were four puzzle sheets, and they had to get the answers to each puzzle to find out what the last answer was and win a paper key, which they had to look up the Bible verse on the white board (Luke 24:5b-6a) and write it on the back of their key. Then they each got either a little packet of gummies or of peanut MnMs. They really worked hard at it, and had fun! It took about 10 kids 45 minutes to complete it, with a few kids each working on a different clue at the same time. We had a time limit for Kids' Church, and we barely had time to finish it! It's easy to find these different themed escapse rooms online. I had to pay about $7 for this one, but you get everything you need to print out - the puzzle pages, the clue pages, the intro page (which you read to the students), the teacher's instructions page, and the final answer page, as well as the printouts of paper keys (three to a page). I added the Bible verse, as the kids get an extra prize coin for memorizing it, which most of them did. The last Sunday of the month is also prize box day, so the kids get to spend the coins they've been earning all month to buy prizes (small various toys). It went great, though! If you teach a group of kids, or even one kid (for a longer period of time than an hour), it would be a great learning experience. I'm thinking I'm going to do this again one day.
